Filip J. Scherf, joined the programme 90’ on Czech Television to discuss Russia’s role in the modern world.
According to Scherf, the story of modern Russia is one of a lost country. Russia has not only become entangled in its own distorted version of history but has also isolated itself from the West. For the foreseeable future, it will remain a key adversary to Western nations.

“Russia must be dealt with from a position of strength – something that has been neglected for far too long,” noted Filip J. Scherf. European countries have misjudged and mishandled Russia’s actions for years, failing to respond decisively until the situation escalated into the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The discussion also touched on Russia’s political ambitions, including the revival of its imperial power and the inner circle surrounding Vladimir Putin. Filip further examined the question: What conditions would be necessary for Putin to leave power?
