Dániel Cséfalvay on Risk Management for KlimaReady initiative

Mar 8, 2023

Dániel Cséfalvay participated in Klima Ready – a joint initiative by the Centre for Environmental Issues at Charles University, Změna k lepšímu, and WWF Czechia

KlimaReady equips businesses and ESG managers with practical, video-based lessons to help them navigate climate-related challenges.

During his contribution, Dániel emphasized the critical role of risk management in addressing climate risks, stressing that companies must assess both direct and indirect threats. Direct climate impacts include physical consequences such as changing water temperatures affecting industries like fishing or extreme weather events disrupting supply chains. Indirect impacts arise from regulatory and legislative changes introduced in response to the climate crisis. Stricter emission limits, new taxation policies, and ESG regulations can impose additional obligations on businesses.

He further highlighted the growing relevance of ESG standards, explaining how companies must understand and analyse risks from an ESG perspective. As Dániel explained, to effectively manage these risks, businesses must map out relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring they collaborate with trusted partners whose practices align with sustainable objectives. PRII’s ESG risk evaluation methodology provides a structured approach to this process.
